Responsible Care NZ (RCNZ) enables all business leaders to comply with New Zealand’s rigorous chemical management legislation. We provide accurate compliance advice, together with customised training in the safe management of Hazardous Substances and Dangerous Goods.
RCNZ works closely with government, industry and enforcement agencies, to help chemical suppliers and their customers manage chemicals responsibly. We lead the development of New Zealand’s chemical safety performance standards, including the Approved Codes of Practice necessary to demonstrate compliance.
RCNZ plays a key role in international initiatives to further improve global chemical management through Responsible Care®.

WORKING WITH GOVERNMENT
As the chemical industry’s representative and advocate, we work closely with government, industry associations and enforcement agencies to advance our Members’ interests. Our primary activities involve:
- Helping our Members to comply with SH&E protection legislation, particularly involving the management of Hazardous Substances.
- Providing employers with the SH&E performance standards and guidance they need to demonstrate compliance.
- Recognising employers who meet and exceed their legal and moral obligations to their employees, the community and our environment.
RCNZ works constantly to ensure the public is aware of the benefits that sound chemistry, industry innovation and superior SH&E performance contribute to a better, healthier and safer world.
